An American astronomer and astrobiologist, Carl Sagan was a popularizer of astronomy, astrophyics and science in general. He has written several influential and popular books, such as “Contact” and is perhaps best known for his popular 1980s tv series, “Cosmos: A Personal Voyage”, which has been seen by more than 600 million people in over 60 countries, making it the most widely watched PBS program in history. Sagan also pioneered the field of exobiology and promoted the “Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence”, or SETI.
